Smozzy for Android: Get the web, without the data plan!

Smozzy is a new Android app that allows you to use your T-Mobile unlimited messaging plan to browse the web.

It works just like your Android phone's built-in browser, but the webpage content is requested and delivered entirely via the text messages (SMS and MMS) included with your unlimited messaging plan.

Thus far, Smozzy is only available on T-Mobile, and can be downloaded for free at the Android App Market.

While it is impressive, the technology behind it is actually quite simple (and unencrypted). Whether this service will catch on and be released to other services or other providers is still unknown, but it is kinda cool, if you live in an area that has cell service that does not include data.
