Woman Uses Camera Phone to Thwart Attacker

Are you one of the countless people who think that camera phones are nothing more than a toy, and a public nuisance ? The following article I found might just change your mind:

(Hartford, Connecticut-NBC) Sept. 22, 2004 - Authorities say a Connecticut woman used her cell phone to help catch a sexual predator without ever dialing a number.

Hartford Police arrested 25-year-old Kywan Gunn on Tuesday. They say a woman used her camera phone to take a picture of Gunn's car, then sent the photo to police. She allegedly recognized him as the man who attacked her in a residential area just days earlier.

Police say Gunn attacked two other woman and sexually assaulted another before his capture.

But, Detective Ezequiel Loriano says they have his first target to thank for her quick thinking, "We compared the photo to what a 1999 Bolero would look like, and it matched. It also matched the description of the vehicle that an officer obtained earlier. It helped a lot."

Two of the women were able to scream and get away. Gunn is in jail under $1 million bail.
