HealthPia | Monitor glucose with your cell phone

At My Fone Forum, we have discussed in the past about products that help us overcome eventual physical or medical limitations. Today's worthwhile mention is HealthPia and their services for people who have diabetes.

They offer the HealthPia Diabetes Phone and three other personalized LG cell phones to check the user's glucose levels at any time. Considering how important is to pay attention to these values, it really is handy to have such innovative products.

This is how HealthPia works: the user places a strip of paper into the sensor, puts a drop of blood on the paper and selects if the reading is done before or after a meal. Than the user tells the cell phone to read the glucose level - simple as that.

Once the reading is done, the included software can forward it via the cell phone to a HealthPia data center. Later with the press of a single button the user can retrieve the data on the phone or simply by connecting to HealthPia at home.

The collected data will also be used to do an in-depth analysis of the values both by the software and above all by the HealthPia Guardian that is follows the cell phone user. The software is also able to manage meal plans by calculating the calories assumed and can give valuable information to the diabetic user.

The HealthPia Diabetes Phone externally is a normal cell phone with a 325x288 camera and two displays (one external and the other internal). The three others LG cell phones instead have to be inserted into the glucometer to correctly measure the glucose levels.
