Samsung presents the first 8GB cell phone

Samsung in these days is all over the news. After announcing that this week they will show a prototype of the biggest LCD screen to be put on sale the Samsung announced a new cell phone: the SCH-B570. The South Korea company dubbed this model the “Super Music Phone” because it comes with a 8GB hard disk drive and because of its great audio quality.

The first feature makes the SCH-B570 the cell phone with the largest memory available and the number of media files you can store on it is quite impressive. For example you could store 1600 audio files (4MB each), 16 PMP files (400MB each) or more than 20 thousand medium quality pictures.

Speaking instead of audio quality the SCH-B570 comes with 5.1-channel stereo sound, a built-in equalizer and 3D sound. The 5.1-channel virtual stereo enables the user to control singularly (via a wheel-type button) five virtual speakers to simulate a home theater experience.

The reference to the home theater is not casual because it also has a receiver for S-DMB (Korean mobile satellite broadcasting) with picture-in-picture capabilities.

In addition to these features the SCH-B570 also has a 2 megapixel camera and a useful program for golf players. This app gives informations on specific golf courses and coupled with a GPS service (not included) can even tell the user how far he or she is from the green.

This cell phone model for the moment will be available only in South Korea but Samsung already said that they will soon sell it in other markets. The SCH-B570’s initial price is the equivalent of 835 US dollars.
