LG VX8700 and LG 570 | Two new clamshell phones

LG announced at this year CTIA two new stylish clamshell phones: the LG VX8700 and the LG 570. The LG VX8700 is a slim (closed it’s only half an inch thick), 107 grams clamshell phone with a brushed metal exterior look.

Once opened it sports a 320x240 pixel LCD display and a flattened keyboard. The LG VX8700 supports the CDMA standard for the voice calls and the EV-DO high-speed standard for the data transfer. The CDMA supports also strengthen the rumors that the LG VX8700 will be offered in the United States by Verizon.

Other features of the LG VX8700 are an integrated speakerphone, a 2 megapixel camera and a microSD slot to expand its capacity. The LG VX8700 is also a MP3 player so LG added the support for the Bluetooth standard to use wireless headsets.

The LG 570 is more music oriented because LG included touch-sensitive audio controls on this stylish clamshell phone. This feature, the same employed by the LG Chocolate, lets the user control the music without having to open the clamshell phone. The user can also set the clamshell phone to refuse calls when music is reproduced. The LG 570 also has a built-in FM transmitter to stream the audio content to FM receivers like the car stereo.

Like the LG VX8700 also this stylish clamshell phone has a microSD slot to expand the memory. The extra capacity will be handy because LG added to the LG 570 a 1.3 megapixel video-camera. The recorder content will be viewable on a 220x170 pixels 2.25-inch LCD display. The LG 570 supports the CDMA and EV0DI standards.
