Wildcharge wireless charging pad for RAZR

I received a press release for the Wildcharge Moto RAZR wireless charging station and it made me ponder one thing -- Why?!?

Why spend 90 bucks on another charger?

The device looks like a small mouse pad, with copper contacts on it. When you get the Wildcharge, you get a new back for your RAZR. You place that back on the phone, then plug the charger into the power supply. To charge your phone, you lay your phone on the charging mat.

For $89, to me it seems to be an expensive convenience.

I mean, how hard is it really to plug in a mini USB cable? I charge my RAZR on my laptop most of the time. I don't think I have used the AC charger in months.

I do have to admit, there are a couple cool things about this device. You can mount the pad on a wall and throw your phone on it and it will stick. Hmmmm ..., I guess there is a cool factor to it? I suppose it is nice to just throw your phone down on the pad and know it is charging, but it still seems like an unnecessary expense.

The other cool thing about new technology such as this, is that it brings us one step closer to seeing something like Wireless Extension Cords ...
