Put ICE in your cellphone - It may save your life!

It's a hot new trend! Americans are putting ICE into their cellphones!

ICE is an accronym for "In Case of Emergency". Cellphone users enter the word ICE into their cellphone phonebook, followed by the phone number of a next of kin to contact for emergency info should the need arise.

The concept, originating from what was thought to be an email hoax circulating all over in July, seems to be a very good idea indeed!

"We just don't see a downside," said Bill Munn, vice president of the National Emergency Number Association, a group he expects will encourage the ICE idea.

"There are almost 200 million cellphone subscribers in the U.S.," he said. "There are many occasions where a rescuer has a patient or victim in shock or unconscious. People may have an ID in their wallet, but they don't always have information about who to call."

If promoted in the mass media, I personally think this idea has alot of merit. Since everybody has their cellphone with them 99% of the time, all you need to do with an accident victim, or somebody who is incapacitated, is search or scroll to ICE in their cellphone's phonebook. The number listed would be of somebody who was familiar with medical and other pertanent histories of the cellphone owner.

My Fone Forum is 100% behind the ICE initiative, and encourrages all readers to pass this valuable tip onto all friends, families, and loved ones!

Even if it saves ONE life, it is worth it! That life may be yours!
