Disney launches Kids Cell Phones

Disney has announced a new kids cell phone designed for children between the ages of 10 and 15 years old. The new kids cell phone is designed specifically to give the parents some control over their children's use of the phone. It is often a problem for parents who give their kids a cell phone for emergencies only to find them running up a huge phone bill.

Disney's new kids cell phone allows parents to monitor and control the use of the cell phone by their kids. As a designated manager of the phone the parent can set monthly spending limits on voice, text messages, ringtones and other services. This can be done directly through the kids cell phone or through a PC. The designated manager (parent) is informed when a child reaches the limits and has the option to raise the limits if they wish. This provides an excellent means of control for parents that choose to use Disney's new kids cell phone.

Even when the kids spending limits are exhausted the child can still make emergency calls and phone their parents or other predefined numbers. Other features of the kids cell phone include setting the times of the day and week when the cell phone can be used, and the ability to locate the actual position of the kids cell phone (and thus the child) by using GPS technology.

This new kids cell phone is part of Disney's attempt to expand and earn revenue from new media and technology. This will definitely be a helpful tool for parents and allow them keep track of their child and their phone usage.
