Text Message abuse in ChinaTuesday, April 11, 2006 The Chinese cell phone operator China Mobile has taken action positive action against text message abuse. Text message abuse is a growing problem in the country where it is used in criminal activity. Text message abuse commonly comes under the form of phishing schemes where people are encouraged to give out financially sensitive information. This text message abuse mirrors a similar problem with email. Chinese Mobile has cancelled services for 19,000 cell phone subscribers in Zhuhai city for text message abuse. These have been carried out over the past sixth month to try and tackle fraud through text message abuse. Once China Mobile receive seven complaints of text message abuse from one cell phone they will cut the service to that phone preventing them from sending further messages.
