Cell Phone Videos UnpopularMonday, May 01, 2006 Over one quarter of cell phones in circulation have the ability to play videos. Cell phone companies have been aggressively promoting cell phone video services which cost on average $10.70 a month for access sports, news and weather. However despite the availability of cell phone videos very few people actually use them with only 1% of cell phone subscribers watching cell phone videos according to the market research firm NDP Group. Most of the people who do watch cell phone videos have already been with their current cell phone subscriber for at least 3 years. This means that the cell phone video service is not attracting new subscribers, something that wireless providers were hoping. A reduction in service costs would likely see an increase in the viewing of cell phone videos.
