Cell Phone AdvertisingWednesday, May 03, 2006 A new and untapped advertising medium is the modern cell phone and other portable devices such as the video iPod. The type of advertising we expect to see evolve on cell phones and other portable devices will not be something like a video on your cell phone when it loads up or large companies texting you with adverts but a more subtle type of advertising involving branding and product placement. When it comes to cell phone advertising large corporations are not thinking of a way to play you an advert like in a TV commercial. They are thinking more along the lines of how to place their brand/product in front of the consumer subtly within the cell phone itself, this will be a type of product placement. An extreme example of product placement on TV would be in the film evolution where Head and Shoulders shampoo saves the world and features throughout the movie. On the cell phone this advertising can take the form of logos within the menus and links to online stores. For those of you that use Windows Messenger and see the tabs down the side for places such as eBay then think of seeing something similar on your cell phone.
